What an exciting quarter we have had! I can't believe that next week Ms. Gunderson and I will be switching schools. I will definitely miss my students at PES and AES, but am excited to begin working with everyone at MES and in my hometown SES. It should be a great quarter.
At Pahvant, our soloists for American Tears and our small group for We Can be a Light are sounding wonderful. These special students have been extra dedicated and have come to early morning rehearsals. I am so proud of them and all they have accomplished in such a short amount of time. I cannot wait for the fifth grade to share this program with the community, it is going to be beautiful. For those who don't know, the fifth grade Veteran's Day program will be held on November 12th at 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. in the PES gym.
In fourth grade at PES we have been making a music video to Utah, This is the Place! our state song. Not only have we been learning the song, but we have been talking about how to perform and filming. It's been a really fun project!
In third grade we have been practicing our rhythm and counting. Students have learned 3 types of notes and rests and are able to recognize, write and play rhythm patterns.
For my last week at Pahvant we have pulled out the Boomwhackers (which is how we started our first week) and are playing a "serious" song called Moo Tube. It has been a fun way to say "see you later" to my students.
At Ashman we have really been working on listening and repeating as well as tying our curriculum to reading and language arts. Last week we worked on soundscaping and started to identify and play small percussion instruments. We have been working with Halloween poems and songs.
In Kindergarten we have been practicing Old Brass Wagon and we busted out the parachute to do a leaf dance.
In First Grade we played small percussion and talked about how sounds can help tell a story or distract from it.
In Second Grade we learned Round The World Saying Hello and learned 18 different ways to say hello!
We are having a great year!
