At Salina, we are working on listening and repeating (younger grades) recognizing music notes and rests (upper grades) and learning how to play different percussion instruments. We will start learning songs for the Holiday Season very soon.
K-2In these grades we are practicing listening and repeating back simple rhythms. Students were introduced to our Djembe drums, which was way too much fun. We learned how to listen for loud/soft beats as well as fast/slow beats. Students were able to create their own rhythm patterns to share with the class.

In the coming weeks, third grade is going to learn a science song about the Three Laws of Motion and use streamers and movement to demonstrate them. Fourth grade is going to start a unit on Indian Drum Circles to tie into their Utah History. |
